“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” Romans 12:1
Many people we interact with on a regular basis believe in the Almighty God that is the Father in Christianity. We could ask around our communities if those around us believe in God and the answer for many would be yes.
Even so, believing that God exists is only as far as many people have gotten. The Bible seems like an intimidating book that is too confusing to understand for some, and others don’t realize that God has more for them than simply knowing He exists. A common belief of many is that our service to God is just to be a good person and be good to others.
How wonderful it would be if we could reach every soul whose experience with God has stopped at acknowledging He is there, or those who involve Him in just a small portion of their lives. To reach them with the exciting truth that He has so much more for the heart that is completely surrendered to Him is great news! God’s desire is that we do reach out to those around us and share the good news, and we have a big job of doing so during our time on Earth!
Psalm 103:2-4 tells us, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,” So many don’t know about His healing and delivering power! Many have never experienced having the weight of sin lifted from their shoulders through repentance. Many, many people have never felt the love and mercy of God by knowing Him and drawing close to Him.
A life consumed by our Savior is the most blessed life a person can live. To give Jesus full control of our lives and allowing Him to guide us by His Word will bring unforeseen blessings that money cannot buy and friends cannot give to us. Peace in our hearts and minds is priceless. Strength and comfort through the Spirit of God is priceless. The body of Christ with the many members who make up the loving church family of friends who love us and pray for us is priceless. The guidance to walk in righteousness with the results of a blessed life is priceless.
The greatest things in life cannot be bought with money, and God has made them available to all of us. We are blessed indeed.
If any of us have allowed the cares of life to interfere with our complete surrender to the Lord, let’s take the time to recommit and reconnect with Him. Our complete surrender to Him opens up the selfless blessings He gives to us, equipping us with the things that will give us the most abundant life.
Taking the brokenness of humanity and exchanging each surrender with promises, love and mercy is just one more incredible act from our Savior. He is a great and mighty God, and being consumed by Him is the best way to live.
